So far, National Blog Posting Month – where bloggers commit to publishing at least one new post per day for the month of November — has been going well. Each evening, I finalize a post and schedule it to publish in the early morning hours of the following day.

Until today. You may have noticed that, aside from today’s Daily Photo (which I’ve decided doesn’t count for the purposes of NaBloPoMo) no new post was published overnight. I do have a good reason, though.

Bahamian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fred Mitchell, and Bahamas Consul General from Washington, Paulette Zonicle, were in town for a few days. Last night, they invited some Bahamians in Los Angeles to join them for dinner.

It was a truly lovely evening and a great opportunity to meet some new L.A.-based Bahamians and learn more about Bahamian foreign affairs. Did you know, for example, that more than 70,000 Bahamians live in the U.S.? Or that one of the responsibilities of a Consul General is to visit Bahamians incarcerated within the territory for which s/he is responsible?

I had planned to come home after dinner and finalize today’s blog post. But between the marvelous meal and captivating conversation, the evening went way later than I expected. By the time I got home, I was simply too pooped to post.

Regularly scheduled programming will resume tomorrow.
