With Thanksgiving just around the corner and Christmas not far behind, New Plymouth will soon be aglow with Green Turtle Cay’s annual Festival of Lights. From late November until after the New Year, the houses, yards, lamp posts, streets and public spaces within the settlement will be adorned with festive lights and decorations.

2015 Festival of Lights Schedule of Events
November 28: Family Fun Night
Celebrate the launch of the 2015 Festival of Lights at a community fun night at Settlement Point. There will be food, games, activities for the whole family and of course, the lighting of all decorations.
December 12: Torch Parade and Santa
Watch local children parade through town with hand-made lanterns and celebrate the arrival of the guest of honour, Santa Claus himself, at the basketball court in the center of town. There will be food, treats and entertainment by Rashad the Sax Man.
December 26: Golf Cart Parade
Come down to Settlement Point for some warm soup and to watch (or better yet, sign up for and participate in) the Golf Cart Parade. Prizes will be awarded for most creatively decorated vehicles. Following the parade, enjoy a concert by Rashad the Sax Man and a Junkanoo Rush by the Green Turtle Slammers.

Chairperson Fannie McIntosh says the Festival committee still needs the following items:
- Coloured lights, Christmas ornaments and decorations
- Small items suitable for boys’ Christmas goody bags
- Extension cords
If you can contribute any of these (or the funds with which to purchase them) or if you have questions about the Festival of Lights, call (242) 475-0519 or email mcintoshfran@live.com.
