Though Hope Town’s beloved Elbow Reef Lighthouse survived Hurricane Dorian, the tower and light station sustained hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages that must be repaired before the lighthouse can be reopened to the public. A recently released documentary, The Kerosene Keeper, tells the lighthouse’s fascinating story, and documents post-Dorian recovery efforts.
