If you haven’t visited Green Turtle Cay’s Albert Lowe Museum lately, you should definitely drop by and meet our new volunteer tour guide, Esther Bethel.
A descendant of the Roberts family who built the home which now houses the museum, Esther would love to give you a tour, share her knowledge of Abaco’s history and show you original oil paintings by world-renowned Bahamian artist (and museum founder) Alton Lowe.
“I take great joy in showing and telling people about our heritage,” Esther says. “I want everyone to feel glad that they stopped by.”
You can find Esther at the museum Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.
By the way, don’t forget that prints of select works by Alton Lowe are available for purchase at the museum, as are various books about Bahamian life and history, including my own book, Those Who Stayed. Proceeds from the sale of these items go towards the museum’s maintenance fund, so please help support our museum by making a purchase.
The Albert Lowe Museum is located on Parliament Street in the heart of New Plymouth, just west of the town administration buildings and post office.
