Settlement Creek Waterfront, Green Turtle Cay, Abaco, Bahamas

Young boys playing along the waterfront in Settlement Creek, during the mid-1900s. The dock in the upper right corner is what we now know as Captain Sam’s dock.

I believe the large boat at the lower right belonged to my great-grandfather, Herman Curry, because of where it’s located (roughly in front of Fish Hooks) and because it has a well (the raised, square section), as Pa Herman’s did, for storing live fish. We found a wooden mast in the cellar at Fish Hooks that we believe came from that vessel.
