GTC Falcons Win 2 Division Trophies in Abaco Football Championships

It was a boisterous time down by the ferry dock Saturday night, as our Green Turtle Cay Falcons returned home from Murphy Town with two 2016 Abaco Youth Football Association (AYFA) championship trophies. A large crowd welcomed the team back and celebrated their victory with an impromptu fire engine and golf cart parade through the settlement.

The Falcons won both the peewee and junior division championships, while the Hope Town/Man-O-War Sharks took the senior division trophy.

Founded in Green Turtle Cay in 2013, the Abaco Youth Football Association enables girls and boys 6 through 16 to play flag football in three age divisions: peewee, junior and senior. Young people learn the importance of good sportsmanship, discipline and physical fitness — and have a lot of fun in the process.

The league is currently made up of six teams: our Green Turtle Cay Falcons, the Man-O-War Makos, Marsh Harbour Wild Hawks, Hope Town Bull Sharks, Cooper’s Town Hawks and the Murphy Town Tigers.

Congratulations to the Falcons and Sharks, and all the league players, coaches, volunteers and administrators on a very successful third season!
