UPDATE: June 2019 – Earlier this year, the property at the northern end of No Name Cay (aka Piggyville) was sold. Craig Russell is no longer involved in caring for the pigs of No Name Cay.

Hi, all. Craig Russell, who lovingly tends to the wild pigs on No Name Cay, just posted the following on his Facebook page:

Hello my Facebook Friends, hope all is well on your side of town!! I had hernia surgery Friday, everything went well & I am doing good, but will be out of action for about 3 weeks.

Tourists have left for a while, so need a few friends to help out the piggies ( One of our tourist attractions). Please take them food & water so they can be healthy when our tourists start coming back.

Normally, Craig visits No Name Cay twice a week to bring food and fresh water to the pigs. However, during his three-week recuperation, he won’t be able to make the trip.

During peak tourist season, lots of folks visit No Name Cay, and the pigs are well-fed and watered. But as Craig points out, it’s currently off-season. Far fewer people visit at this time of year, and the pigs will no doubt be thirsty and hungry.

If you’re in Green Turtle Cay, Treasure Cay or anywhere nearby, please consider making a run (or several!) over to bring food and, equally importantly, fresh water, for the pigs.

Aside from onions, meat with bones or citrus fruit, the No Name pigs eat all sorts of vegetables, fruits and meat. They especially love bananas, apples, grapes, corn and carrots.  (For obvious reasons, please be sure all food is relatively fresh and water is clean.)

If you’d like more information, or would like to get in touch with Craig, drop me a note and I’ll forward his contact information to you.

And, as always, remember that the No Name pigs are wild creatures. Though unlikely to bite or attack without provocation, they should always be approached with caution and common sense.
