Welcome to the new Abaco Forum! I'm Amanda, your chief administrator. I'm a 9th generation Bahamian with deep Abaco roots. My husband Tom (Tom at Abaco Sun) and I own and operate Abaco Sun Magazine, as well as the AbacoSun.com website. We divide our time between Green Turtle Cay and Washington state.

Please comment below and tell us a bit about you, and your own connection to or interest in Abaco! Are you a lifelong Abaconian? Local business owner? Second homeowner? Longtime visitor? Newbie who wants to learn more? Tell us as much or as little as you’re comfortable sharing. Either way, we're glad you’re here!

My name is Craig. I visited the Bahamas first in 2000, on my honeymoon.  My wife and I have been hooked ever since! A work friend had told me about Elbow Cay and my wife and I visited for the first time in 2004.  We were now really hooked! We returned to EC in 2007, with our 13 month old son, who learned to walk on that trip and we now have a tight connection to the area. We have visited the Bahamas 9 times (Abacos 6, Nassau 2, and Exuma 1).  Looking forward to many more trips to come.  The Abaco forum has always been a wealth of information for planning vacations. It has also been great for keeping informed about and connected to the area when not planning a visit. So glad the ABACO FORUM IS BACK!!! Best of luck with it......

ps. I loved your book Amanda (Those Who Stayed) and love getting the Abaco Sun in the mail, it makes my week when it arrives :-))

Hello Abaco Forum friends! I'm Mat Matlack. My wife and I started coming to The Abacos in 2016 when we were shooting a short documentary about the Potcake dogs. We fell in love with the area and purchased a tiny plot on Green Turtle Cay. We volunteer with Abaco Shelter through managing the website AbacoShelter.org and help with the Instagram account.

We also started Potcake Rescue to create various income verticals to help support Abaco Shelter and its strategic partners. So far, we sell shirts, chew toys, collars, and we hope to launch our digital collectibles project this year. Visit PotcakeRescue.com for info!

Much admiration for your efforts with the Potcake Rescue. We adopted a pup through an earlier rescue group. Peaches was one of the absolute best dogs that we have ever had! Wishing you the very best with your rescue efforts.

Hi, we are second homeowners on GTC. We currently have one Potcake approximately 11 years old. we recently had to put our 13 year old Potcake down. We love the crazy breed and would never think of having another kind. Our male was named Munjack  and our female is named Bimini

So cute! Sorry to hear of Munjack. 🫶 If you are on the cay this Saturday or Sunday, I'll have a Potcake booth at the RiTA parties. Come say hello!

I found this forum whilst researching for a Abaco vacation. Booked a rental that was wiped out during Dorian.

Still check in .... never made a visit either.  Maybe some day.

Hi, GKeith. I'm so sorry to hear that your rental was lost. Hope you're able to make it to Abaco one of these days. In case you're looking for accommodations, here's a list we put together of what's available post-Dorian. https://abacosun.com/resorts-and-accommodations/

Hope we'll see you in Abaco soon!

Hello again friends,

This is the other Brad from the old site (2hup, not AbacoBrad). 😀

Been coming to Hope Town since 2000. We were just visiting again last month. Catch 22 is the boat. See you around.

Brad
