As many of you know, I’ve had to step back from Abaco Sun for much of the past year while dealing with several family matters. Thank you to everyone who reached out to check on Tom and me. Your kind messages, encouragement and support have meant more than you know.
I’ve missed Abaco Sun, and I’ve especially missed being part of this wonderful community. Now that life is beginning to settle, I’m excited to be back.
My first priority is making AbacoSun.com the comprehensive, up-to-date resource our readers deserve. Over the past few weeks, I’ve refreshed our Visitors Guide and Where to Stay in Abaco pages, and I hope you’ll share them with anyone planning a trip to the islands.
In the days and weeks ahead, I’ll be updating our business directory and events calendar, while publishing new articles celebrating Abaco’s people, history, culture, boating, beaches and cuisine.
My goal is for Abaco Sun to be the place people turn to when they’re planning a visit, looking for local businesses, keeping up with what’s happening across the islands, researching Abaco’s rich history or simply staying connected to a place they love.
I’m also looking forward to becoming more active again on the Abaco Forum. It’s always been a welcoming place to ask questions, exchange ideas and connect with others who share a love for Abaco. Whether you’re a visitor, second homeowner, resident, or business owner, we’d love to have you join the conversation.
I’m also pleased to share that I’ve recently acquired the URL and content of AbacoEscape.com. Many of you will remember that Abaco Escape was founded by Sandy Estabrook, who spent more than two decades creating an extraordinary collection of information about the islands. I’m currently exploring the best way to integrate Sandy’s work into Abaco Sun so that this great archive remains available for all. I’ll have more to share on that soon.
In the meantime, I have a few requests.
- If you’re an Abaco business owner, or you serve the Abaco market, please take a moment to review your listing in our Business Directory and let me know if anything needs updating. If your business isn’t listed yet, let me know and I’d be happy to add it.
- If you have an event taking place anywhere in Abaco over the coming year, please send the details and I’ll include it in our events calendar.
And any time you have Abaco news, story ideas, historical tidbits, old photographs or something interesting happening in your community, please get in touch. I’d love to hear from you.
Here’s to brighter, sunnier days ahead — for Abaco Sun and for Abaco.
