Honour Betty White by Donating to the Abaco Shelter

Within hours of the beloved entertainer’s passing on December 31, 2021, references to the #BettyWhiteChallenge began appearing on social media.

The challenge asks fans to honour Betty White by donating $5 to the animal rescue charity of their choice today, January 17th – which would have been the actress’ 100th birthday.

A lifelong animal lover, White was involved with many animal rescue and welfare organizations.

For more than four decades, she served as a trustee of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association. In addition to creating and hosting various animal-centered programs and specials, she lent her voice to the animated series, Pound Puppies, and penned a book about her experiences with the Los Angeles Zoo.

In 2012, American Humane awarded White, whom they called “a tireless and devoted animal advocate”, a National Humanitarian Medal and Legacy Award.

If you’d like to honour Betty White by participating in today’s #BettyWhiteChallenge, I hope you’ll consider donating to the Abaco Shelter.
