Thirteen years ago, Abaco Sun didn't exist. There was just a little house on Green Turtle Cay, a new blog, and a feeling that something might come of it.

What followed was a journey neither Tom nor I could have predicted — from family stories and island history to Hurricane Dorian recovery, a business directory, a magazine and nearly 1.8 million page views from around the world.

It's the time of year when some Abaco businesses close temporarily to give their team members a vacation, and to undertake renovations and preparations for the new season ahead. Happy Friday, everyone! As some of you know, Tom and I have been stuck stateside for over a year due to some health issues. HOWEVER, we now have a return date to Abaco -- December 28. I cannot tell you how excited I am to get back, and to be able to see GTC's New Years Junkanoo for the first time post-Dorian.

Who else has a trip planned and is counting the days?!

That’s why the Bahamas Marine Mammal Research Organization is asking Abaco boaters to slow down to 25 knots or less. It’s a small change for us, but it can help create a quieter underwater world for the dolphins that call Abaco home.
