I’ve spent some time this week at Bita Bay testing out my new favourite toy — an underwater housing for my camera.
Truth be told, the idea of submerging my camera in salt water scared me, but after some reassurance from Tom and a few tentative test dunks in the tub, I was ready to take the plunge.
As you might expect, shooting photos underwater is more challenging than on land. Achieving sharp images is doubly difficult when both subject and photographer are in motion. Plus, the winds from the last week or so have churned the water, reducing visibility and clarity.
That being said, I’m having tons of fun getting up close and personal with the local sea life — I even befriended a small sting ray. Here are a few of my first underwater images — more to come!
Even an underwater selfie!
Reblogged this on pundit from another planet.
